That individual was General Butler (aside from his 2 MOH awards, General Butler also won the Marine Medal which at the time was the Marine Corp's highest ranking medal for bravery as legislative language had erred - until later corrected - in not including the Marine Corps in the Medal of Honor statutory wording).And yet, even most Marines (active, inactive, former active, etcetera) would never list General Butler in a list of famous Marines. Why? Because HE isn't taught. In my tour of service in the Corps (late 1960s-early 70s), I never once heard of him. I agree with 70% of his commentary. Didn’t care for the reader of this book. I guess they wanted him to sound like a cantankerous old man and they succeeded. Glad it was only an hour long.
